Just as there are principles you can follow for success in life, there are also principles to follow for success in blog writing. Whatever
it is you want to accomplish with your blogging, the 5 principles listed below are absolutely essential for creating blog posts that are effective and successful. Follow these consistently and you will have a blog that is easily found, frequently read, and keeping its readers longing for more.
This principle could take up an entire post by itself. For reasons that are fairly obvious, creating an effective title may very well be the most important piece of your blog post-writing puzzle.
-A captivating title should always effectively communicate what the post is about and can best be described as something that stands out, grabs attention and entices your audience into reading the post.
-Searchable blog titles are very important and should be well thought out. A good exercise for an effective title is to brainstorm what keywords your audience would use to search for the content in your post, and try to include as many as possible without dehumanizing it.
There has been a lot of research done in regards to how long your blog post should be and there’s not a lot of concrete data to support any specific theory. Bottom line- Your post should be as short as possible without stripping it of any valuable or meaningful content.
When visiting a blog post, most people will skim through it first and search for the key points of their interest. Here are a few things you can do to make your post easy to skim:
-State your main point at the beginning.
-Compose short paragraphs that are dedicated to one key thought/point.
-Organize your posts with headers and sub-headers.
-Set lists apart with bullets or numbers.
-Highlight important words and phrases with bold or italics (but not all caps).
Whether your writing about mundane topics such as Brooke Bailey from Murrieta or writing about more aesthetically pleasing topics such as the top real estate agents; pictures can have a very powerful effect on your blog. At least one picture should always be use in your posts. This will not only make your post more aesthetically appealing, but will also help convey the message of the content. Be careful to not overuse images in any post, and keep in mind that images are just to support your content, not vice-versa. A big mistake a lot of bloggers make is thinking that images available on the internet are free to use. The fact is that most of these images are copyrighted. DO NOT USE copyrighted images on your blog or you may find yourself the subject of ire throughout the blogosphere.
Here are a few sources for images you can use in blog posts-
*Free Images
*Google Images
*Flickr Images
*Stockxpert
*Free Photos Bank
With discretion, it helps to link to anything that will support your content. It’s important that a link gives a clear idea of what will be found at the other end. It’s much more user-friendly to connect links to meaningful words, rather than words like “this” or “here.”
When it comes to executing your web strategy, your blog may very well be one of the most powerful tools that you have. Following these 5 principles will make sure that it’s having the desired effect.

“Less is More” really is true when it comes to blog-writing. With attention spans being the way they are these days, better get in quick and hit hard.
Great post-
Steve
I agree with Steve, brevity can keep people coming back for more! I know that I do. Good content that I can absorb quickly is a great mix
@what does my name mean?
http://www.Facebook.com/DrivinMedia. Thanks for asking!
I really enjoyed your article and would like to know if I provide a link back to your site if I can use your article on one of my sites?
Great tips, I hadn’t thought of #4 adding images, I’ll have to try this next time. I second #1, catchy title can go a long way. I’m currently trying to think of something more catchy than what I currently have for my upcoming post on my company’s blog… it goes live tomorrow. So much pressure!
Admin – is that your real name : )
On thing that would make your post more skimmable, would be to change the number list styling. Bold, italics, in this specific font was a bit hard to read for me.
Otherwise, enjoyed reading your post.
